my 6 weird things...a little late
okay, so heather tagged me a while back for this: six weird things about me. because i hardly have time to blow my nose these days, i am just now getting to it. apparently i need to state the rules in advance, so here they are (plagiarized from heather's blog):
The Rules: “Each person who gets tagged needs to write a blog post telling 6 weird things about himself [or herself but not ‘themselves’, as that would imply plurality of personality, and that is odder than any 6 things I might think up] … as well as clearly state the rules. After you state your 6 weird things, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says ‘you’re tagged’ in their comments and tell them to read your blog for information as to what it means.” (note: because i barely have time to write my own blog and don't know anyone else besides the few obvious friends who have blogs, i am going to forgo the last "rule".)
1. food: i love certain strange concoctions like applesauce and cheese, and fritos and cream cheese. i hate cilantro.
2. there are many times when i wish i were really crazy and weird; it would be very freeing.
3. i am a very good liar (or a very good actress, as my mother prefers to call it). i discovered this in my teens when i was very disobedient and had to lie to my parents often.
4. i HATE pencils! for one thing, eraser shavings really bother me. the only time i ever use a pencil (and 99% of the time it's mechanical) is when i am doing a crossword. even when i tutor kids in math, i use a pen (for shame!).
5. i am a medical mystery (and i became so about 3 years ago). i have been to a slew of doctors in the last few years (for several different ailments), and i have had gazillions of tests run (from simple blood tests to wearing a heart monitor to having an MRI). no one can seem to figure out what is causing these little problems. recently, however, one doctor prescribed me a pill because of some underlying thing a blood test revealed (no outward physical signs, mind you), and this little pill happened to fix one of my other ailments that had stumped 4 doctors (GP, allergist, dermatologist, and endocrinologist). oh the irony! thankfully, the "mysteries" as i've started to call these ailments are nothing too serious; they are simply minor annoyances.
6. english was my worst subject in school, and that's what i taught to junior high kids for 7 years. the fact that i struggled in english myself actually made me a much better teacher. i knew when kids didn't understand, and i could put the lessons into words that made sense to them.
well, those are the first 6 weird things that come to mind, albeit definitely not the only ones.

I hate eraser shavings too. But more than that, I hate that most regular pencil erasers actually eat away whatever paper you're erasing from as well. So when I DO use a pencil, it's usually mechanical and is paired with one of those clicker-type soft erasers that just rubs out the lead, and not everything else, including the layers and layers of the pad of paper I have to write on so the table grain doesn't show through where I write. I'm weird, aren't I?
hahaha, i like it.
